where to buy a reman 4239 tractor engine

I am considering putting a 239 diesel in my 2510 but having trouble finding a source for a re-manufactured one. Also
have to be sure it is a structural block for tractor use. How do you tell the difference?

To check cylinder block application I think one would need to research the block casting #s. 2510 utilizing side frames should relieve some stress off of block vs the utility type tractors where side frames was an option that many utility tractors didn't possess.

You will be very happy with the results. I just bought a 2440 with a 239 that has 86 hours on the new Deere complete engine. It was installed many years ago but the tractor was only used to push snow and mow a few trails. It runs great. Tom

These engines have no provisions for side frame bolts,, the front and rear engine plates provide for that and
they will interchange with the one off the 2510/20, so keep in mind that you will need the ones off your
engine before you ship it off for a core. Deere can not sell a complete engine that will not meet the new
emission standards,,yes in the old days there were pallet racks full of complete engines setting at the parts
depot,, but those were better days.... My thoughts are to pick one up ad a salvage yard and have it re-
man,,this way you will know what you have from the bottom up.

I agree with Tim but would buy a bare block so you
see the condition where the cylinders seal.
If yours is a diesel everything else will swap.

I gave you bad info. I was thinking 219.
You still need to be able to inspect bare
block before buying.
Your rods will be wrong. Your head might still
fit even though the numbers are different. Your
oil pump will be wrong but you will need a new
one anyway.
Turn it over and lay a 239 gasket on it to check
all holes.
