720/730 taperlok flywheels

I have an early 720 diesel. The flywheel was
cracked, so I bought a taperlok for the
70/720 green dash. As I worked on the
tractor more, I discovered that it had a 730
crankshaft and main bearing housings. If
you've ever worked on these, the green dash
720s and 70s have a completely different set
up for setting crank endplay than the 730s
and black dash 720s do. The previous owner
had some spacers rigged up. It sorta worked,
but I didn't like it. Long story short- I
messed with it for a while, ended up just
buying the rest of the required 730 parts to
upgrade the entire crankshaft and endplay
set up to the 730 style. (Upgraded the cam
idler gear to the 730 style while I was at
it too). The only problem is the taperlok
hub now sticks out past the end of the crank
1/4" and rubs the flywheel shield. My
brother has a 730 with a taperlok, and the
only visible difference is the nut on the
hub. I'm wondering if I can buy just a new
hub and reuse my flywheel and everything fit
correctly? Anyone sell these or know about
them?

There's contact information on the
instructions that came with the flywheel,
but the numbers seem to no longer be
correct.

Worst case I'll just have my current
taperlok hub narrowed up a little on each
side. I just thought that if a new 730 hub
would fit, and was reasonably priced, I'd
just buy the correct part.

Try this # for Allen Machine Works (423) 753-5738. I just sent them a flywheel a couple weeks ago to have a taperlock hub installed. Leave a message if no answer and they will call back. Mine was for a 730 and everything cleared the cover.

You should be able to turn some off the backside to get it to go on farther. I had a 730 that it went on too far and the ring gear rubbed the starter drive. Had to put a big spacer washer behind it.
