Antifreeze leak in B cylinder block

Hit a snag while assembling my '49 JD B. Had a very slow drip of AF that looked like it was coming from the bottom of the block, at a small depression in the side of the casting. I poked at the spot with a screwdriver, and went right through. Not much more there than paint and rust.

I plan to enlarge the hole to solid metal, then drill and tap for a pipe plug. Any other suggestions or tips?

Thanks!

Might be pretty hard to get thick enough metal to tap it for the plug ? Good idea worth a try.

flush out system to get all antifreeze out,use a dremel tool and clean it up real good and fill it with JB WELD then put a piece of duct tape over it,let it set for a day remove tape sand down then paint it.You'll never have anymore trouble with it.Ron

Or I have used water-weld or fas-weld which is a semisolid 2 part stick that you knead and apply. Because it's much more solid it works easier than jb weld in this application.
