B Battery Cable Install

The install of new battery cables is complete!
The good: With the new cables, the 6 volt battery turns the motor really good! I didn't think it would make that much difference, but it did. I got the cable from this web site and it is a very good heavy duty cable.

The bad: A real troublesome install. First removing the old cable was very difficult, ended up cutting it is several places. It was probably the original from 48! The install of the new one is difficult at best. Trying to get the cable into the hole under the flywheel and past the starter. It may have been easier to loosen or removing the starter. I ended up attaching a 12 gauge electrical wire to the cable and by pulling and pushing until I got is past the starter.

Why in the world is the starter on the bottom? The earlier models had it on the top. Maybe there was a shortage of engineers/designers after the war.

Anyway, job done and it works great!

Best guess for moving the starters was to get them out of the elements. A, B, G tractors all had top mount, in the rain and weather starters prior.
