530 loose steering

530 with a wide front axle (48 to 80 Inch tread). There is play between the steering arm and the spindle. When we got it the left side had 2 thrust washers as the parts book describes and the right side had 1 thrust washer. I took out 1
thrust washer from the left side and it is tight.
Is it OK to only have 1 thrust washer? What should I do with the right side?

The arms are a tapered press fit. One washer is fine as long as the spindle turns without binding. I have had good luck tightening the ones that are worn badly using a product called devcon epoxy metal. It's like jb weld but stronger. I use it on 4020's all the time. You need to warm it up to disassemble.
