John deere 4010 high pressure leak I think

Hi I have a John deere 4010 that I have been having issues for the past few years with when I push in the clutch I loose all hydraulic with in a few seconds I noticed that when I cap off the hydraulic line going to my brakes I can hold down the clutch for over 5 minn with no loss of hydraulics so I figured the brake valve was my problem so I rebuilt the valve and installed it back onto the tractor with same results. I then noticed that the hydraulic return line on the brakes will pump hydraulic fluid no mater if the brakes are pushed in or out being closed center I don't think this is supost to happen or is it? Thanks for any help.

On closed center hyd system such as the 4010 no return line should have constant flow of oil. If there is constant flow out return line brake valve is at fault.

That is what I was thinking so I rebuilt it with all new parts and same issue so I bought a used one and put it on and same thing so I guess I will see if I can take one off of my friends 4020 that I know works and see if that fixes it.

Looks like I am going to haft to see what the issue is with my valve as I am not going to be able to borrow a working one any time soon and would like to get it fixed. Anybody have a idea in what to look for in the valve that would cause it to be flowing hydraulic fluid through the feed line into the valve back out the return without the brakes being pushed? Thanks

Spent some time after work today working on brake valve I disassemble the valve and everything looked good so I was blowing compressed air into the supply line and could feel air coming out the return so I noticed that the ball check valve which is the one in the middle was alowing this to happen so I ajjusted the spring by placing some shims under it and tried it again and it would still leak so I found me a Pensel with a eraser on the end of it and cut it to the right length to act like the spring and check valve being closed put it all back together and tested it with air and the valve works great no high pressure leak. So my issue is the check ball and spring are leaking they are both new and look good so not sure why it is not seating off and causing the leak. I guess I am going to order a new ball and spring and see if that fixes it if not I guess i will see if I can find a stronger spring. I think this check valve is only supost to open when there is a hydraulic pump failer so the tractor will still be able to brake and should be closed anytime there is pressure on it.
