Need to change all the fluids on my Model 70. What type / brands of oil and gear lube should I use and where? I have a manual but I was wondering what most people use. Any help is much appreciated!

I use the fallowing in all my 2 cyls tractors JD hi guard in the hyd, power steering and pto clutch 90W in trans and rear end run Mobile delvack 1300 15w40 in all my engines

Interesting question, my 70 is gas and I am curious as well, not sure if I can get some of the oils today that my manual recommends. I have oil running from my transmission into the pto on mine and am getting ready to tear into it to see how to fix it. My manual says 10 weight oil goes back into the pto but can't find it online. If hygaurd works I'll be happy. Can't wait to read what y'all use!

Hyguard works a likes dream in the hydraulics, I'm running my A the same as Kent except for the Rotella 15w40 engine oil and if the world changed tomorrow and his Mobile delvack 1300 15w40 was all I could get, I wouldn't think twice to switch over -- it's a fine oil too.

Baker valve and remote cylinder have over ten years on Hyguard with no issues what so ever.

How do you know you have oil running from the trans. to the PTO? PTO too full? I'm interested in what you find. Keep me posted.

That's my thoughts. Pto too full but both transmission and pto are light brown and over full so maybe they both are overfill due to condensation. I been running hygaurd in the powertrowl for a few years now cause I share implements with the newer tractors

we never consider this, but if we use hydraulic cylenders on many machines ,pull them with different tractors even brands and they hold any oil at all has anybody considered the mix its making in the hydraulic system? a round bailer has some healthy cylinders .reason I say that I have a cockshutt that always had atf in the system.id hook to a disc and then another machine .we used 1ow in our john deeres . id check my oil and it would turn brown. when I changed oil in my system I just used what we used in our joh deeres. never had a problem either

Yes, if the transmission oil is leaking into the PTO clutch housing, then oil will over flow out of the PTO clutch housing when the filler plug is removed.

Take a look at the photo below.

Hope this helps.

We actually use 15W-40 Diesel motor oil in the crankcase.

We actually use 140W GL1 gear oil in the transmission.

Hope this helps.
