1946 John Deere A

Can a late styled model A head be put on an early styled block? If so are there any advantage to it? What modifications would be needed?

Yes may need to swap out he studs as the late head is shorter. Has a shallower combustion chamber so it will raise your compression. Also if you have the very late head you will need the cast piece that goes on the stud to oil the rockers as it is different. Late A heads do flow a bit better than the early styled.
