2240 hydraulic system issue

Please help!!!! I have 2240 that I've been trying to get going for a few weeks. I had an fitting that connects to the trans pump that was broken. I split the tractor fixed the issue and reassembled. Appetantly I've done something wrong because when I started the machine it ran for a few seconds and blew the hydraulic filter housing off the tractor. It pulled the retaining bolt into. I have checked to make sure the 2 pressure valves on the left hand side are installed the correct direction. One above the filter and one on the lift arm housing. What am I missing? Any advise or schematics would be great since I'm running on pure memory on how it came apart. Thanks

Welcome to YT.
I can't remember any hyd valves on LH side of tractor but there are several hyd valves on RH side. I've never seen a hyd filter retaining bolt broken from trans pump pressure(155-165 psi). I wonder if you have hyd lines in clutch housing in correct locations?

I can get a picture of this! I just posted about my 2440 low pressure line issues. That line is the bottom line on the above diagram part key # 12. I am going to install my line today or tomorrow and could get a picture how they go into the clutch housing if that helps.

Sorry your right it's the RH side lower. Those lines you picture don't look familiar to anything I removed. There was a main feed line comeing from the trans pump and 2 approxamately 5/8 aluminum lines that run up to the shifter housing that can't really be installed wrong. That's the only internal lines I had out. There is a line that comes from the valve up to the main high pressure pump and the auxiliary hydraulic controls. That's all the external I removed.

The only thing that I can think is that there is a
blockage somewhere past the filter. When it breaks
the bolt it doesn't spray fluid it just flows out. I
started it again earlier and it held fine for a few
minutes until I raised the rpm off idle. Then it
snapped the bolt right away.

There is a relief combination divert valve that sends oil to the front pump when the transmission oil pressure reaches approx 165psi .
Sounds like the valve is not changing state or a line is plugged. Not unusual for an O'ring to get away from Bubba as he changes the filter .

That's up on the trans shifter housing correct. I was
looking at the flow diagram and that looked like a
good spot for a problem. The tractor has been
sitting for a few years outside in the weather. I
started it last night and it didn't blow the housing off
until I brought a it off idle. I had pulled the filter relief
valve and made sure again that the path was clear
and the valve was operational. It's not getting any
fluid to the front pump right now. I'll check that
housing tonight. Thanks

Could you have the filter relief valve in "backwards"??,,as long as it is in correctly and not stuck the filter bowl can not blow off,, and I am fairly sure it can go in backwards...just a thought...

So I believe I figured out my problem. I did what was suggested by taking the housing off and routing a line between the main line and return. Fired up the engine and as soon as I saw fluid head to the front pump I had power steering and lift arms. So I'll tear apart the housing tomorrow at the shop.
