4020 Loader bucket brackets (help please!)

My sister in Katy,TX bought an old 4020 with a model 148 loader. The loader is mounted on the tractor but doesn't have a bucket, hay spear of anything on it. I own a welding and fabrication shop in Monroe, LA and want to build her a bucket for the tractor. I have no problem in building the bucket like the original bucket but I can't find a 4020 around here with a bucket to copy the dimensions of the bracket that goes on the bucket for the hyd cylinder eyes and the loader arms themselves. I need to build the bucket for her fairly soon because she is wanting to use it for cleaning up around her horse farm. If anyone has a 148 loader and can get me all of the dimensions off of the bucket as well as a pattern or close measurements of the bucket brackets. I was also wondering if anyone had ever put forks on their 4020 and had a set up for that as well. Whomever can help me with this it will be greatly appreciated and I will even try to compensate you for your time.

If starting from scratch, I'd put a skid
steer style quick attach on it. I know
that's not what you're asking for, but put
one on my 158 and love it. Then swapping
from and finding different things to go on
it are easy. I bought a universal one off
eBay for around $400. Then my buddy that's
handy like you made it work.

I'm going to agree with Nick. There is a place called Hayspear .com that sells adapters just for that loader. I've never done business with them and i'm sure there other companies out there that make them. That just happens to be the one I can think of right now. Converting to skid steer type mount will allow several different attachments. It won't be cheap though.

Only problem with that style is that they are not as tough when you get a big tractor working on them. The tractor side is fine but we have saw the buckets bend and then the quick attach jumps out.

I've built a lot of buckets and spears and the 148 loader
are easy to build . There not a big bucket maybe 30" deep
with a 4" kick up in the back 45 deg maybe and 24" high
and tipped forward a little bit . The brackets only need
be 1/2 x 4" material I use angle iron to spread out the
load and gussets . the holes are 13"on center 1 5/32 hole
for a 1 1/8 pin . Put the top pin in a little more than
bottom hole help roll back . Width depends on what you
want . I would run 4 3/8" or 1/2" runners under strength .
Put Your outside brackets 40" and 32" on the inside .
We're a dealer with hayspear they make good stuff . Nice
quick tach units and adapters too .

Very good explanation, but could advise how many inches off the ground are the lower holes? I could check mine...just a thot if yours is handy.

Only so much brain space , that must of been missed placed . Some reason 8" rings a bell but don't hold me to it .
