2550 Battery Cable Update

Installed new positive and ground cables on the 2550. I ended up using two AR53999 cables from Deere. Ran the ground cable to the bottom starter mounting bolt. Worked like a charm! This thing spins over and starts so much easier now. If I had run to the top starter mounting bolt I would have had way too much cable using the AR53999 from Deere for the ground. Going to the bottom bolt took up the slack and with a few zip ties I was able to get a good clean looking install. I am going to use a paint marker to mark red + on the positive wire and a silver paint marker to mark - on the ground wire since I used the same cable for both connections.

Thanks for update. I always wondered why JD utility tractor engineers elected to attach battery ground cable to battery box housing that eventually was going to loose good connection because of battery acid corrosion. I guess JD saved a little $$$$$ by utilizing less feet of battery cable.

Before I had to crank for a few minutes to get it to start and the cable to the first battery in line would get hot to the touch. Now, you barely turn the key, it fires up, and the wire is not even warm.

I'm not sure what the braided cables would have cost but this cost me about $120 with expedited shipping for two new cables. It makes all the difference like B&D said. Well worth the money and I agree it should have been this way from the factory.
