Trying to remove the clutch pulley gear. It's keyed, so I assume it pulls off the sleeve? Any advice?
Thanks!

I USE A large 3 JAW HYD. GEAR PULLER. When it lets loose the whole thing jumps off the floor !
I have tried pullers with threaded screws and they do not work near as nice and fast once it pops as a hyd. does.

Our dealer's shop had a Hydraulic 17 ton 3 jawed puller and when it let loose it would jump a foot or so off the floor . Sometimes had to use a 5 lb. hammer to help it . Then use a torch to heat it up so the grease smoked good and drop it back on .

Thanks Mike! I tried 2 different pullers, heated it with a torch, and oiled the heck out of it - no luck. You basically need a solid steel hockey puck on the collar to have enough to push against! I'll have to see if the local rental shops rent hydraulic pullers. If not, I'll take it to a machine shop.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll give our local dealer a call and see if they can help me out.

You emailed me about a clutch pulley assembly but my reply would not go through. Hope you get it via the Forum: I have a John Deere clutch assembly for sale, which would include the pulley gear, the operating sleeve, the belt pulley, and the pulley oil seal. I would want $100.00 for this assembly. I could include a bronze clutch collar for an additional $20.00. If you are interested in it and would like to have some photos, let me know. A good 2 or 3 jaw puller will do it. Heat the gear till your spit sizzles on it and tighten the puller. Whack the puller with a hammer and it will pop loose. Don't oil the gear or you just cool it back down and oil won't penetrate that tight of a fit anyway.
