John Deere 2640 overheating

My 2640 is overheating when under load. It stays in the normal range when just driving around. However, when put under load it overheats fairly quickly. I have changed the thermostat and had the radiator cleaned at a radiator shop. It seems to be struggling when under load. There is some diesel leaking around the injectors when idling. There is no leaking when the under load at high RPMs. Any help is appreciated.

Fan often slips on those due to a worn fan pulley. The alternator pulley will be also ruined if the fan pulley is worn.
Most operator's keep going until the machine overheats or quits charging . Now they are working with a glazed belt and worn pulleys.
You can install a new belt and super tighten it on the worn pulleys but the extra tension will ruin the water pump and alternator bearings.
Sometimes the grooves are ruined on the crank pulley too.
Some of those tractors had plastic water pump impellers that would crumble apart or slip on the shaft.

Welcome to YT
Has inj pump timing been checked lately? Sounds as if injector seals need replacing.

Thanks for the input I will check this when I can.

Some of those water pumps had plastic fins on the water pump,,if yours does 2 or 3 of them could be missing, I
have seen all of them gone,,it would be worth pulling the pump and checking..

Thanks, I will check this too. I could see this being a problem by how old this tractor is.

I have seen this happen on them,,, the replacement impeller is steel...may as well O/H it while it's out..
