What fluids should I use in my John Deere 40t?

I have the manual stating what weight oils I should be using for engine, final drives, transmission and touch-o-matic (3-point).

I'm curious given that today's fluids are a little different. What should I use to service my John Deere 40t with.

10w-30- Engine/touch-o-matic ????
SAE 85W-140 - Final Drives/transmission?????

Will the above suggestions work?

See photos below for factory recommendations.

The lubrication recommendations in the service manual are the best place to start.

We use 15W-40 Diesel oil in the crankcases of all of our tractors.

We use 10W in the Touch-o-matics of our M, MTs, and 40s.

We use 140W in the transmissions of all our tractors and final drives of our M, MTs, and 40s.

Yes, your suggestions listed above will work.

Hope this helps.

Don't forget the steering box. The book calls for 140wt but I use a mixture of that and cornhead grease(00) to make it pourable. You can buy the ep 00 grease in a squeeze
bottle at your local lawn mower shop as well.
