JD 1209 mower conditioner, replacing roller bearings

I have a JD 1209 mower conditioner that has blown some bearings for the rollers that crimp the hay. Getting at the bearings so I can pull them off and replace with new ones looks to be a challenge. Can it be done without removing all of the surrounding metalwork? Can I cut them off with a torch and then put the new bearings on? I have never done this job before and would appreciate any suggestions on procedure.

Thanks for your help

Can't remember, but thought the rollers come out of an opening in one side sheet or the other. Can you get at the bearing with a dremel
and cut0ff wheel. Doesn't have to look pretty. Cut part or all the way thru in two spots and use a chisel. WATCH OUT for flying
pieces!!

Yep, take top roll out the right hand side sheet hole. Raise lower roll up and take it out same hole. Look at Reel Frame on

I've done roll bearings on my 1207 a couple of times and just swapped rolls from a parts machine. I had the right side upper bearing go out and did some damage to the sprocket bracket. I replaced it with a Chinese bearing from TSC and only got 2 seasons on it. I had to torch out the seals and ball cage both times. Then you can get the flangettes off and leave the inner race on the shaft to remove later. Sent me an email and I'll send you a scanned copy of the technical manual.

It can be done without pulling rolls or removing sheetmetal. Replaced the LH upper bearing in our 1209 last week. If the bearing chewed up the roll shaft it'll have to come out.
