John Deere 2030 brake issues

Hello 2030 diesel made in USA. Dad was mowing with it yesterday and brake pedals got soft. Still has brakes but pedal goes all way down. It will slide the tires pedal is just traveling further than normal. Any ideas on what to inspect or look at? Should I just bleed the system? Plenty of oil in rear end.

Bleed first. If that does not solve the problem, there is likely an internal leak in the master cylinder. Ben

If you work them one side at a time do they both go down ?

Bleed first. Power bleed procedure is in the books. If it still acts up try and find some block off plugs to cap off the lines going to the axle housings to see if the valve or brake cylinders are suspect.
Years ago I worked on a 2240 brakes would not work unless you pumped the pedal. Rebuilt valve seemed to work ? But days later they didn't. Ended up resealing the pistons inside the rear end housings.

Is the pedal solid if you poke it hard, but spongy when you push gently? There is a piston inlet valve in the bottom of the valve reservoir that just a little sediment can keep from seating.
