2510 Vapor lock

Hi everyone! I'm a new owner of a 1967 JD 2510. My tractor starts fine when cold but after running for a lengthy amount of time it won't restart. Let it cool for an hour or so and it restarts just fine. The carb has been rebuilt and an electronic ignition has been put on it by the previous owner who also had the same problem. I don't know if or when fuel pump has been replaced.

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I completely off base with the vapor lock theory?

Thanks!

Vapor lock is probably bogus.
I have seen fill cap dented enough to cause vacuum on diesel
causing it to die.
Excessively rusted cap could be clogged. Also fuel shutoff not open enough that it
runs out of fuel. Any trash or kink in line could cause the same.
Disconnect line form tank at fuel pump to check flow.
You should get a full stream.

I would guess slow cranking/low battery voltage to the coil/coil that gets weak when HOT.
Does that tractor have a "starting bypass" wire from the "R" terminal on the starter solenoid to the coil?

Well let me share some of my experiences with my 67 2510 gas. i also have a 67 diesel. I was having the same problem as you. I bought mine last year. It was a 1 owner, but had sat for several years in a shed unused. It would start fine cold but warm it would have issues. The first thing I did was take the starter off and took it to my local starter shop. They replaced 1 brush that was worn. I also replaced my battery cables as it looked like the original ones had seen better days. The tractor started better but not great. Mine does not have electronic ignition and I had just rebuilt the carb, as well as replaced the transfer pump.. The previous owner had cut the fuel line and put in an inline fuel filter. The filter did not look that bad, but I changed it anyway. As I used this tractor more and more my starting problem became worse. I started looking at the fuel filter and the level in the fuel tank. When below half a tank and when run for over and hour and shut off, and then tried to restart is when I had issues. I finally started changing fuel filters every 2-3 hours to try to get thru haying season. I pulled the tank and that was my problem. I took it to the gentleman that adversises in green magazine and he dipped it, braised up some holes and resealed it. No more starting problems.
