JD online parts system is switching to Parts Advisor!!

The switch from the old system is one step closer to being final. The trouble is the new system is written by CAR people working for SNAPON. The system is a complete JOKE!!!! If you go to JD parts and enter the model number of what your looking for it will jump you to the new system now. The old system is still there for a "Limited Time". It is a button on the left under where the "trail" usage for the new system was.

Try to find out where a part is used. The old system would list everywhere the part was used. If that is available on this POS system I can't find it.

Look for some thing that your not sure of the name for. The old system you could look through the index. The new system you just "search" for it. Well IF your calling a part one thing and the engineer called it some thing else you will not find the part.

I wasted an hour looking for some parts to only find that I can't get the parts transferred to a parts list and then check to see if it is in my local dealership's inventory.

If you really want some fun try looking up something by the part specification like you used to. Lets say your looking for an idler pulley. The old system you could look it up by categories and then by size. It would list the JD part numbers for the idlers they have. If the new system can do this I can not figure it out.

JD has made their "New" equipment to where the average fellow can barely run it and forget about working on it. So now they want to screw up the parts system too.

GOOD JOB JD GOOD JOB!!!!!! I guess I will be buying even more of my parts from other sources.

Good LORD that's an ABOMINATION.

I sent the following comment using the "contact jdparts" link at the site:

"PLEASE don't kill off the jdparts we know and love!

It is an INVALUABLE resource for those of us who work with classic John Deere equipment.

What will happen to the older PC's that are available only as .pdf's once the changeover is complete?

Thanks for listening, and HOPEFULLY showing some concern for the MANY loyal customers who depend upon a USEABLE parts lookup system!"

How about all who read this doing the same?

You must have overlooked my post on the same subject nearly a week back. I'm not impressed with new parts system either. I too sent a message to "contact JDparts".

I found the shopping cart and availability information, but sure don't like the new system as well as the old. Didn't try a where used or specification search. Wonder why they spent millions solving a problem that doesn't exist! Oh well, now they have a problem.

Where'd you find a place or address to send a complaint? I couldn't even find that on the new system!

I just attempted to sign in and it doesn't recognize my user name or password that I've used for yrs. Plus I see no place to contact JD.

Well maybe now my old micro fiche and viewers will be worth something ? I bellyached about them when I had to use them everyday but they were better than anything that followed. I should of bought more paper parts books. Wonder if they are still available ?

Another one of the reasons I no longer work at a dealership.
Moline Ill. may be in the "heartland" but its getting further away all the time.

Must be we customers were getting too much advantage from the system somehow?
Of the few parts sites I used, JD was the best. Sounds like- "not any more"!

Jim, this is exactly the problem I have been having recently. I called the help desk and they re-registered me with my local dealer (about the third or fourth time) and changed my password and told me after the fact. They said they were having a lot of trouble with the site and on some days even their own people couldn't access it. It's a mess. Mike

Well I also think that JD equipment overall is not made near as good as it used to be. I'm of the opinion that Kubota has improved theirs over the past several years and JD has downgraded theirs.

Mike
I think JD is fully aware that Kubota is knocking at their door. Have you surfed JDParts advisor? I don't like the new format at all but then change is difficult for old codgers like me.

Ya up here in ontario canada the jdparts.com web site works perfect.
nothing has changed that I can see.
but we always seem to follow behind usa so I guess I will get prepared.
good things never last.

Not yet. I thought I'd wait as maybe they will do some tweeks to it. I don't buy many parts anymore either so I rarely used it. But it sure is nice to look up your own numbers and then I call my local dealer and place the order over the phone. I'm set up to do the automatic thing but never tried it and have a hard time trusting it to try it. At least if I call up and talk to a person I know who to chew out if my stuff doesn't show up ! I also know who (me) to chew out if I get the wrong items ! lol.

The jdpc website that your link goes to only allows you to view the catalogs. The parts website described by the OP is where you register with a user name and password, set up a local dealership, and then can actually order parts on-line. The times I've done it I have picked up the parts at the dealership and not had to pay any shipping, even though about everything I've ever bought had to be special ordered since modern dealerships (understandably) don't keep vintage parts on hand.
