John Deere A throttle Issues

I have a 1948 JD Model A. When I move the throttle lever to the WOT position after about 10-15 seconds the throttle lever itself will back off the around 3/4 throttle. If I want it to stay at WOT I have to hold the throttle lever there. Is there any type of adjustment I can make on this?

Thanks
Justin

Down inside the steering wheel support post, there is a tapered cup that the tapered cone on the throttle vertical shaft fits into. Someone must have oiled it ?? About all you can do is let it be until it gets better,....or take it apart and sift some dirt into it to make it tougher to turn.

Throttle shaft & arm should have a spring loaded tension adjustment. Square headed
upper screw that locks into the shaft, bar type pry on the lower side in the right
place & the whole shaft should raise up, Loosen the set screw & push downward on the
upper handle should increase this tension. Retighten set screw.....

Those setscrews "normally" have a tip and go into a hole into the rod. So this normally cannot be put into a different position.

You maybe correct Mike but I think on this adjustment there should be a V slot in the shaft
so More tension can be added to the throttle spring, Like the V slot that in the governor box
flipper arm.

Only if someone modified it.
The hole and pin design used will keep it from falling all apart when it works loose is the only reason I can think of as to why they made it that way.
