JD 2020 Starting problem

After sitting for 24 hours my 2020 apparently loses the fuel in the carb. I have to crank it over for a while before it will start.
I do not see any fuel leaks nor smell fuel. I installed a primer cock and it will fire on the first turn when I use it. Any ideas appreciated.

I have a 1020 and 2020 gas, both do the same thing, never know when or how long to choke or where to set throttle, bug hell out of me, like my wife.

Check the load needle packing to see if its leaking gas while sitting .

I'd suspect the fuel-pump. He has one-way check-valves and when in good shape, stops fuel drainback. Considering a 2020 has gravity-feed gas, as I recall - when the tank is filled to the top - does it make any difference if parked with a full tank versus when it is low?
