JD 800 Swather starter

Need some help on a 800 swather starter.
Replaced with reman about 2 yrs ago. Now it
needs rebuilt i think and theyre spendy at
about 500 bucks and no rebuild parts
available. Its a slant 6 and takes a
different starter then chrysler starter.
Miller or something like that. Cant remember
for sure. Is there another starter thats
cheaper route ??? Thanks.

Dunno where you get "miller", but a starter for certain manual transmission mopars of that era will work, IIRC, even for some 318 applications. Probably pickups and MD trucks. Depending upon serial #, the 800 could either use an inertial drive stater, or a gear-reduction stater.

Probably 15 years since I've dealt with it, so I can't be more specific, offhand.

Trouble is that they're old enough by now the local parts store probably isn't going to have a selection on the shelf to compare yours to.

ANY surviving nearby auto electric rebuilder should be able to get parts for it, though.

Its a Wilson starter and NOT a MILLER !!! Sorry for the confusion. If I remember right we tried a slant 6 starter and it wouldnt work. May grab one from the salvage yard and try it myself to see what the difference really is.

I bought one about 6-7 years ago from my local auto parts store. Tom
