Was bush hogging yesterday and backed it back between two trees. went to pull forward and front of bush
hog caught on edge of tree on rt bolt holding loadshaft on left broke bush hog went left and yanked the
loadshaft completely out of tractor. An here I thought you had to take the wheel off to get it out. LOL

JD 1520 utilizes a different part number for L/D shaft & seal than a 2240

On my 1020 wheel did not require remove for LD Shaft. Just did this in the past 6 months with new O-rings and seals. Buy yourself a few extra seals if you have not done this before. I ruined 1 set figuring out how to install them but I am also polish and people say that keeps me from thinking right now and again.

I also bought the A&I shaft. Deere dealer got a Deere shaft in stock so I could compare the two. We compared them and there was NO difference. None. Used calipers to measure everything. Weight was the same. I see Jim shows its about $30 cheaper and I seem to remember the same for my 1020. No leaks on the 1020 so far and put in a new shaft, O-rings and Teflon seals. I left the bushings alone.

Put L/D control lever under seat in "D" before removing shaft and remove all side to side motion of shaft with shim washers when re-installing draft links.
