John Deere M Steering Box

How do you replace the lever shaft stud? Mine broke off. I got a replacement but would like to fix the old one for a spare.

Are you talking about the pin that rides in the steering worm? If so, it's just pressed in and bradded on top. If you don't change all three bushings the vertical shaft goes through and keep heavy oil or cornhead grease in there it will happen again.

Yep, that pin is what I'm talking about. You say pressed in and bradded. Should I be able to drive it out from the bottom?

Where can you get replacement pins?

The bottom has a shoulder. Grind off the top and drive it down and out. Use a big flat end punch. You can still buy the pins from Deere but they are much cheaper on ebay.
