Update on Ventilator pump cover O-ring

Okay, I've been scratching my head over why this o-ring number B 293 R doesn't want to fit my ventilator pump cover. It seems that my cover has the part number F 3414 R, while the parts listing for my 70 shows the cover part number to be A 4188 R, and it comes with a large groove machined into it for the B 293 R o-ring. My F 3414 R does not have this machined groove. My 70 has a serial number of over 32000; mightn't it be a transitional engine? Anyway, if anybody has a similar ventilator pump cover, I would appreciate any suggestions as to how this thing seals against the fan shaft tube. Thanks again, Hugh

Hugh i looked up the part #F3414R that was used on 720 tractor#7210523 and up it is for power steering models they did not us the oil ring. A4188 is used on 70 models without power steering and does have the grove for the o,ring. you need to get the F4188 as there is oil at that point and it will leak with out the o,ring. Hope this helps luck Kent

It does help, a lot. My email is open, could you clue me in on how you found out this information? I tried but I didn't have any luck. But thanks again, this is what I needed to know. Hugh

Would a front cover from a 720 non power steering tractor work? If so I have one. What part number do you need??

Thank you, 58 Deere, for offering to help. After talking a lot to Kent Peterson, it appears that the cover that I've already got is the correct one. The source of the problem is evidently my leaking power steering pump, which is being rebuilt by Rich Duane. Once it is back in place, I'm gonna see if the leaking from the cover stops, and go from there.
Thanks again, Hugh
