More follow-up for 70 governor

Hello all. I am almost ready to put
everything back together, but I gotta check
something out. There is an o-ring, key
number 32, in the parts diagram that goes
between the bearing housing and the fan
shaft tube. The part number listed is B 293
R, and I got one from the local Deere
dealer. They had it in stock, so it didn't
actually come in a package with a part
number printed on it. Problem is, there is
no way that that o-ring is gonna fit. It is
a quarter inch thick, and the outside
diameter is 2 and one sixteenth inches.
Dealer is sticking by their story that it's
the right o-ring. Any thoughts as to where
to go from here to get the right one?
Thanks, Hugh.

That sounds like that part number. I can't remember if a power steering tractor is different ?
Clean up the tube good and the casting o-ring groove too. Then coat it the o-ring with silicone sealer then install it and put some good steady pressure on the tube and it should go in.

That's the right o-ring, I use multi purpose grease and steady pressure with a little twist for assembly.

I appreciate all the thoughtful responses. I still don't know how this is going to work, but I'm gonna follow these suggestions and give it a try. Thanks again, Hugh
