B Model Carb

Well, if you are satisfied with the way a carb designed to feed a 465 cubic inch engine works on the 190 cubic inch engine that you have(I took the size of the 1947-1952 B), I guess that's up to you. I'd think it would be way to much fuel. It makes a difference as to what B you have. There were 3 different sizes of engines used in B's, one for serial # range 1000-95999(1935-1940), one for serial # range 96001-20099(1941-early 1947) and the biggest in serial # range 201000 on up(late 1947- 1952.) Each size engine had its own specified carb-DTLX 10 for early, - DTLX 34 for middle, - DTLX 67 for gasoline tractors and DTLX 73 for all-fuel tractors for late.
 
The early "D" carbs had pretty much the same size throttle plate and bore dia. Even tho it will bolt up, the throttle and choke controls will be backwards as the "D" carb flows from rear to front and the rest flow from front to rear. They made a lot of refinements in their carbs since the '30,s and '40,s as far as economy, smoothness of acceleration, idle and transition etc. If it weren't backwards it would work but wouldn't be my choice even then. Old "D",s were made to basically put in the field or on belt and run constant speed all day long. Doesn't take much carb engineering to do that. The later row crop tractors were used for everything,all speeds and responsiveness.
 
When I got the non running B tractor it had a carb off a G and it was so rusted it fell apart. I got the carb from the D from a friend. With this new info about this carb I guest I need to get the correct carb. Dose anyone want to trade for a very good condition DLXT 16 carb. Or is there anything I can do to modify the carb so that it will work.
