Went to a local consignment auction in Western MA this past weekend. 335 bidders, sunny weather, limited buyers and high reserves. Nice looking JD 1650 4 wheel drive with loader - $12,000 ending bid and did not make reserve. JD 435 GM Diesel - Nice shape, ran good lights worked good rear rubber & full 3 pt. $4,200 and did not make reserve. JD 4030, 4 post, ugly repaint, leaks, over 8,000 hours $5,100 and did not make reserve. JD 2600 4 bottom plow, nice shape, good paint, good wear parts, $1,200 reserve was $2,000. Athens 55 8 foot 3 pt hitch harrow - real nice shape, $900 reserve was $1,800. Fence row B, complete, tires shot, engine froze $100. JD 1250 2 row planter set up for sweet corn row spacing w/hydro cylinder $10.

I came home with a Cole MX-12 2 row planter - needs fertilizer box repairs, but felt I did OK at $500. Came with a bunch of seed plates and different speed gears.
 
Reserves kill auctions. Sounds like they better of took what they got. Things aren't selling like they used to. Well many things ?
That JD1650 has to be sort of rare as you hardly see the models larger than a 1050. I bet parts for it may be an issue ?
 
I only found one or two listed for sale on the internet and they have them around $8,500-$10k for 4x4 with loader. I mean it was in nice shape but it wasn't a 100 hour 1 owner machine by any means. Pretty sure it was a Yanmar engine in it and they said it was 67 HP.

The auctioneer was getting a bit ticked off. Kept saying he should have been a preacher because his church isn't this quiet on Sunday morning. He even scolded the crowd after a real nice goose neck dump trailer stalled out at $5,000 (reserve of $12k) and then a standard hitch dump trailer sold for $4,800. Asked the crowd what sense that made... A few folks walked away after that.
 
I'm glad i didn't take a ride to the sale I thought their would be high reserves because the auctioneer is charging outrages consignment prices! $1- $500 30% THATS CRAZY And as the price goes up his only comes down a little! I understand everyone needs to make money but that is way out of hand! So I was going to consign a tractor but did not!
