I was going to buy a petcock for my G which they could get from the warehouse, however the cost was almost $100. Think I'm just going to let the old one leak a little longer.

And I'll betcha the new one won't be as high quality as the old one. It's pretty hard to get a petcock to seal up completely. I have helped them by cleaning up the tapered parts with fine emery cloth to get the grooves smoothed out. I tried lapping compound after the emery cloth but it didn't do much good. A slightly stiffer spring on the bottom end with a washer under it does a little good too.

I've found when closing the petcocks on my G's that pushing in on the handle while rotating it to the closed position reduces the leakage somewhat. Using a fine lapping compound will help "fit them in" better too, but clean them thoroughly after using it....rinse in solvent.
