J D 730 D, STD, W/PONY

Recently purchased J D, noticed fuel gauge, red light for pony & lighter not working? Also wire to oil sending unit disconnected? Pony gas fuel line has manual shut-off valve.
Somewhere I read there was some type on gas auto shut-off system? Would like to have original system, is this a good system and where do we purchase necessary parts? Also where is oil sending unit located & what is black button on dash?
P S where can we purchase necessary manuals for this tractor, purchased one manual, questioned seller said it was for 720 & 730, wrong 720 only.

They never made a 730 service manual as the thirty series tractors are the exact same as the 20 series only changes were the sheet metal. There was never supposed to be a thirty series two cylinder tractor but the development of the ten series tractors took longer than expected so Deere reworked the sheet metal and called them thirty series tractors.Ebay is a good source of used manuals. I've one of these tractors, and had to learn many of the same things you're asking about here. First download a parts manual from John Deere (it's free). As
mentioned many other manuals and parts are available from eBay and other on-line sources. Opinions vary as to whether the fuel shut-off system is a good system,
some seem to have more trouble than others with them, mine is complete and works well. The red indicator light is for pony motor oil pressure, the oil pressure
switch would be located near the fuel pressure shut-off assembly, which would be attached near the carburetor fuel line inlet. The black button on the dash allows
you to check diesel fuel level.

There are many on this forum with much more experience than I with these tractors, all will say get the manuals.

looks like our cranking motor fuel system has been removed and fuel shutoff valve installed in gas line? Would like to go back to original, seems to be no retro systems, Richard Brown may have one on a salvage tractor? Probably will have to be rebuilt? Checking again on black button on dash, so the diesel fuel gauge only works when you push button?
THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO.
