8430 4wd Wont start, just clicks

cant seem to start my 8430.When turning the key the selinoid just clicks just like you have in in gear but it isn't. u can put a boost box or jumper cables on the tractor and it will pop right off like nothing is wrong.?? without the boots box or cables on the click is vary strong not like the batterys are dead.

How long since all six battery cable ends were cleaned/tightened?
Check to be sure this starting relay under hood has a good ground. Have batteries been load tested?

Cables are tight an clean just checked yesterday. the batteries are new jd strong boxes two years ago an the cables were replaced at same time. ill check the relay!! thanks!!!

Load test your batteries,..only 2 year old doesn't mean a thing. I had new batts go bad after 2 days.

Check the ground cable to the frame

Clean and right doesn't mean a whole lot. Use a multi meter and find where there is no or low voltage instead of guessing .

I just recently went through something similar on my 4020. Good batteries, good cables, and a solenoid that sounded like it was clicking like it should. Turns out, to my surprise, the solenoid was bad. The clicking I am hearing could have been the relay which is close by, although I thought I had made sure I was hearing the right thing. Either way, I replaced the solenoid and it has been fine since.

Found it!! the wire was loose on the starting relay!!
