260 John Deere Skid Steer

My son is a missionary in New Orleans and uses a 260 John Deere skid steer in much of his work. One of the bucket tilt cylinders developed a leak at the gland and we want to
rebuild the entire cylinder. The rod end pin was easy to remove, the blind end attachment point not so much. Evidently, there is a tapered pin/sleeve that needs to be
moved/removed to allow cylinder removal. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks so much!

if I remember correctly, you need to loosen the nut somewhat, but not remove it. Then give it a really hard whack with a big hammer. (hit the nut, threaded on enough so you wont damage the threads).

These can be a real bugger to get off. Good luck!

Just spoke with my son. He says there is no nut. There is a tapered sleeve that is threaded to accept the bolt. He loosened the bolt and hit it trying to break the taper fit loose but had no success. The local John Deere dealer said it would have to be cut out. We're thinking it would be better to rebuild the cylinder in place.

We had to repair both of them on a 250... but it has been awhile. I seem to remember heating one of them. We also used an air hammer. There is a similar taper design that holds the bucket face plate pins in. Those come out a little easier.
