Unstyled B Value

Thinking about selling my 1935 JD B. I really don't want to, but, I have other priorites in life right now, and I don't see a glimmer of hope in getting this old thing restored anytime soon.

It is a 1935 JD B, on a complete set of Kay Brunner Steel Wheels. The head has been rebuilt, and it fires up / runs great. Good oil pressure, doesn't burn oil that I know of. All it needs to be a nice tractor is rear tires! 11.2 x 36.

Not sure what an Unstyled one in this good of condition is worth, and I think the Kay Brunners make it worth more? Thoughts? Thanks Bryce

I would say +/- from $3000 probably need to fix tire though, makes a somewhat difference what part of country you live in. I know values on the hand crank tractors are not what they used to be depending on options and rarity. Just my 2 cents worth!

Rally neat wheels. As for value??? I bet those wheels are a real rarity. That in itself should add to the value. I would guess 3500-4000

WOW ! lots of high dollar figures being posted ? I'm thinking in reality you will be lucky to get 1/2 of those figures from an actual buyer. But start at what they say and see if the phone rings and if anyone shows up with money. If none of that happens then start dropping the price a little at a time until the phone rings.

Well, I paid about $400 for it (trading, and bought 3 other tractors with this one as a package deal) Then we built brand new push rod tubes out of Brass, and rebuilt the head, seated the valves, etc. So, maybe another $100 there.

Honnestly, from looking/asking around. I think the tractor to the right person is worth $2000, and the wheels are worth $500-1000. $3000 would be the least I think I would take for it, but I am really not sure.

I hate to sell the thing, but I am really really badly wanting a Duramax Diesel truck.. :/

Bryce,

Personally I think it is worth about $1500 total, so asking $2000 might get some interest, just not a market like there used to be, you will make a buck at that price.

I think you would have to replace both rear tires with a matched set of good used tires to get close to $2000 for the tractor. To get the most for the tractor you might consider selling the wheels and rims separately and ship those on a pallet. Find a good set of regular wheels, and rims off a parts tractor and sell the tractor locally for maybe $1000 to $1500. Try advertising the wheels and rims to see if there is much interest in them, or search Ebay for any that have sold recently.

I agree with the others, selling it as-is for $1000 to $1500 would still be a nice profit for you (and much more realistic).

The problem with the older tractors is the market is all but gone. The new generation of collectors want what they farmed with. That is why jd 4020's are so popular right now. I really think with bad rear tires you will be lucky to get $500.00 in today's market. Hold onto it, the market could come back you never can tell!!
