Am working on a B John Deere carb that has been worked on by unknown people before me and the first thing I need to do is identify it correctly. It is marked DLTX?4. The 5th character is imperfect due to the mold not being quite perfect. My first impression was that it was an S or a G but that doesn't seem to fit with what I'm seeing on the forum. Other more likely possibilities are an 8 a 6. The last numeral is most definately a 4. Don't have the year or SN available at the momemt. It is a dual-fuel, hand crank with the radiator not exposed. If SN is needed, I can get it tomorrow. Another thing...from looking through the forum, I seem to be missing something...a spring from the vertical tube that comes down thru thru the float and bears against the bottom of the float bowl. Did they all have one and is it necessary. There's a lot of rust and I don't think there's any danger of the brass thingy inside falling out. Pardon my ignorance...I was raised on red stuff.
