4630 SGB relay

New User
Replaced SGB relay on LH side in cab. Of coarse JD has
changed relay to lil black relay with wire extensions. Once got
it hooked up ac and fuel gauge not work. Ac would run when
key was in accessory position but fuel gauge not work. Moved
wire from 87a on relay to 87. Ac working like should but fuel
gauge still not working. What could cause fuel gauge not to
work now? Was working before changing relay.

Is this the part number for the relay dealer sold you? If so didn't kit contain a wiring schematic?

The relay wiring really isn't that complicated.

There's two buss bars, with breakers attached to them, one bar is always "hot", the relay energizes the other one when the key is switched "ON"..

It's NOT uncommon for a breaker to fail or have a poor connection to the bar.

With key "ON", check the side of each breaker opposite the buss bar for power with a test light and post back with what you find.

Also, is it possible an instrument panel ground got disturbed, or the harness connector to the instrument panel got partially unplugged?
