Saturday I went over to Dad's and used the 4020 to load up some logs for the Amish. Tractor ran GREAT ! I don't know why so many have problems with them ?
Tractor has 6100 hours on it. Have only put 50 hours on it in the last 7 years so you know it sits ALOT.

I agree. I have a 71 4020 gas console, 2 remotes, 4900 hrs. Starts and runs great. Aside from some rusty gas plugging the in-line filter from sitting a lot, it has been trouble-free. I think it sounds smoother than the diesels and a touch quiteter too. I hear the economy story over and over but for one that doesn't get used much and gas being cheaper right now, it doesn't cost much to run it. At one time I considered changing it to diesel then I started hearing how the gas consoles more are more rare, so I decided to leave it alone.

I used to have a 4010 gas standard (one of 98 for those of you keeping score at home) and it started and ran great. I put electronic ignition on it and I don't even recall what carb it had, but I never had any problems with it.

My uncle still uses his 1970 3020 gas for a LOT of chores. In the past it's been used for pulling a 3 bottom plow, 4 row and 6 row planters, used on the feed mill, and for numerous other chores. Now it's used mainly for planting, cutting hay, and small chores. This tractor is probably my most favorite to use.

Last year it hit 10,000 hrs!

From what I remember it's had 1 or 2 radiators, an engine rebuild at about 7,000 hrs (I'm guessing an in-frame rebuild?), a clutch rebuild, and ignition rebuild. As of now it's about due time for a steering rebuild.

I've posted photos a number of times of my gas 4020 "Ingrid", which has been a darned good running tractor (except when the carb float cracked late last fall).

I use her to blow snow, and she is a good winter starter as well, especially when I take the time to pull the transmission disconnect clutch lever before firing her up.

Yes, it's got a fiberglass cab made by the outfit that later became Nordic Fiberglass, in Devils Lake, ND.

I have never seen one of those around here in Ohio. They only have the steel boxes on them.
I'm betting yours is more quiet ?

It's not much to brag about as the fiberglass has "sagged" a bit over the years and the doors and windows don't operate well or seal up well.

I have a nice Hiniker cab and installing it is somewhere on the "to do" list.
