3020 flywheel dimensions

I have a 3020 that we have resurfaced the clutch face on and now the man putting it together says there is too much play in it when he bolts the pressure plate on. The PTO? disk is loose and he says it has too much play in it. When we resurfaced it we also took the same amount of material off of the face of the flywheel so that the distance would be the same. I have searched and cant find the factory spec dimension or depth from the face of the flywheel the the surface that the clutch plates run on. Does anyone have that?

Pto disk is designed to be loose until throw-in brg presses against the 3 pto PP operating fingers after tractor is joined together. If equal material was removed from rim as face then I think you should be fine. IIRC there's a maximum of material that should be removed but I can't remember that spec.

Are you sure that's for a 3020? Should be more than that. Your dimension sounds more like a 2030. I'll try and look when I get to the shop.

PTO disk floats til engaged. Fingers have to
be adjusted before going back together.
Perhaps you should have gotten someone familiar
with those tractors.

hello, the depth of the flywheel should be; 2.849 inches.. don't forget,, if the flywheel has been turned a couple times before,, you need about .400 drop at the outside top edge for the cover NOT TO BOTTOM OUT.. the tech spec says NOT to remove more than .060 material total from flywheel face.

Yep, 2.839-2.849" according to the service bulletin. I have taken off more than .060 total when in a bind. The critical point is that there is clearance between the clutch disk and the flywheel bolts when assembled. As stated, proper finger adjustment is necessary for proper operation.

If you end up needing a flywheel I have a NOS for both a gas and diesel synchro. I'll include my email in case you do..
