JD K62 & K62A Hydrostatic trans

I have a L190C JD lawn tractor with loss of power going up hill and lots of noise from the rear end. Finally stopped going altogether until cooled down. Pulled the trans out and changed the oil but didn't do any better afterword. Has a K62 trans. I found a K62A trans online and bought it for replacement. After installing the trans I found that the reverse and forward motion were backwards even though the control's hooked up the same.
Got any ideas??

Guess I kinda "shot from the hip" with that comment, NOT sure is there's any way the control lever could have been installed 180? off???

If that's not possible, and you want to fix it rather that exchange it, it will have to come apart and the motor housing "wedge-shaped block" will need to be rotated 180?.

It is # 8 in this photo of a similar (smaller series, though) Tuff Torq.

It doesn't look like TT has a manual on-line for the K62, below is a link to the (similar) K61. Take a look at Page 31.

Be glad it's not a K46 transmission.

Thank you, I will remove the transmission and change the position of the wedge. Shift lever is not out 180. Sounds like this adaption of the K62 was for a different application.
Appreciate the help. Thanks for the photo, it was helpfull
