injectors for 4010

Anybody know of a good place to get injectors rebuilt for a 4010. These injectors are really expensive. We checked the ones from my sons 4010 today and 5 of them are pissers. These 5 injectors have 5 holes but the one that has a half ways good spray pattern has 6 holes.

Could be they just need a good cleaning if the needle valves are sticking. The six hole tip is what the 4020 went to. Also best to check the spray pattern by bringing the pressure up to 200-300 PSI below opening pressure, then with the other hand QUICKLY bump the lever. That's how the pump hits them. Pumping the handle really slow you may fail some good injectors. New style Bosch tips have a poor chatter compared to older tips, and need to be checked differently. The Bendix injectors may not check well if pumped slowly as the valve needle is not close to the spray tip discharge, main reason injectors are not made that way on newer engines. Newer engines also have injectors with no long spring spindles too like older injectors did.

Is there not a diesel injection shop in your area?

Might want to check the Yellow Pages.

(Does ANYONE do that anymore?)

When you get close to the pop pressure, they start to leak. I did try to clean them. Is there a way to lap the seat to make it quit leaking. Also on this type injector, when you buy a new nozzle does the tip come with it or is that sold seperately.

The tips are separate from the valve on that injector, your valves MAY be leaking at the seat if the needles are sticking too, they must move freely. Lapping the needle and seat area may help if they are not eroded badly. Sounds like the tips are OK, and the valves are the trouble. Make sure when they go back together the tip mark aligns with the body mark too.

What would you use for lapping compound to lap the seat

Are you doing an overhaul or just checking the fuel system? If doing an overhaul consider buying a 4020 head, fuel lines and six new pencil injectors. I did my 3010 20 years ago and am very happy with the results. If doing an overhaul you will need to get your old head redone anyway. In the end you might not save a lot of money but will have a better setup. Tom

We are doing an overhaul. This tractor had a rod through the side when he bought it. I welded the block and I think it is going to be ok. We were looking at the pencil injectors and they are much cheaper. This tractor is really nice and everything is original so my son really wants to keep everything looking original. Also I not sure if a 4020 ever had pencil injectors and the wide head. I know the early 4020s had the wide head but they had injectors like a 4010
