Hammer Strap issue on JD 9360RT

A neighbor had the three bolts holding his hammer strap on work loose on his 9360RT yesterday. When it came fully loose he was on an incline with the implement raised causing negative tongue pressure - the tongue immediately headed upward and took out a few hydraulic hoses and the hoses to one of the 3-pt lift rams - then the safety chain caught and the hydraulic failure dropped the implement and all came to a stop (all happening in about 1/100 of a second he said). Well the bolts must have slowly been working out and wore the threads in the hammer strap so he had to buy a new one. When he went to the JD dealer they told him this was the 4th one they had replaced for this reason in 6 months, and all on tracked tractors. I am not sure why these would all be on tracked machines or if it was coincidence, but what does concern me is that 4 of these have happened in a small area in 6 months. Has anyone else had a problem like this or heard of it?

An Old Man told me once that "Some things can't be explained"....We always do a "walk around" inspection on our equipment when it's working hard daily,, saves a lot of problems..

Noticed the hammer strap loose on the 8430 (1978 version) last spring when planting beans. I would NOT like to see the result of it coming off and a 30 ft airseeder parting company with the tractor.
It is important like Tim says to have a walk around things to have a look. I usually do it between 2 and 4 in the afternoon when I need to get woken up.

Those track tractors put a lot of stress on the drawbar when Turning especially if you crank er around tight enough the one track stops even worse if your trying to drag an implement around a corner
