Alternator installation

I have a JD 1946A that I restored this winter. My first. Bought a generator frozen off a forum that he said was taken off 46A but it was a starter/generator 12 volt. Not knowing any better I had it rebuilt and of course it wouldn't work. It was ccw and for a Club Cadet, so I basically got ripped off. He wouldn't even admit he made a mistake. So be it. So I'm done with generators after losiing $230, so I want to install an alternator but I don't know what would fit on my generator assembly which I would like to use. Are there any suggestions from you gentlemen on what would be best to use? I can wire a 3 wire which isn't a problem for me. It's just getting something to line up or do I have to drill holes and make a completely new mount.

I had an Alternator on my B and thought it fit on the generator bracket, but that was 40 years ago.
