Putting a 3pt tiller on a 520 530 or 2510

Anyone use a 3pt tiller on the above tractors? If so, how wide a tiller do you use?
We're looking at King Cutter tillers. What tiller width works best per horse power of tractor?
Is 1st gear too fast to use a 3pt tiller?

Please let me know your experiences.

Thanks

I have used the 72" version of the King Kutter with an Old 50 . It's all the old girl wanted but I got good results, I have since sold the 50 and use the tiller on a "fresh" 420 and it handles it well. Neither have or had live power.

I found if you are tilling a large area ( I had an acre in pumpkins) , it was beneficial to turn the soil over with a plow first but not required .

First gear is sufficient for tilling , doubt you would want to go any faster.

The King Kutter still does a nice job , I don't need it to make a living with it -just a little spring tilling for the last 12 years- good luck

Found old pic when I purchased

Thanks for the reply and picture Quilted. My 50 has no 3pt but my 520 does. Think it would handle a 6' tiller better? Not sure if 1st gear is the same speed as the 50.

Not to knock King Cutter, but when I bought my 72" tiller the Woods brand was more expensive but dealer said that the design of tines was such that they prevented tiller from becoming plugged with weeds or other plant matter. So I opted for the Woods and have never had it plug even when going through waist high grass. Something to consider.

I've owned a 72'' King Kutter ll tiller for over 12 yrs. Only thing I've replaced is a set of tines that were worn to a sharp point & slip clutch linings. My tiller has never balled up with weed/grass. I tilled over 25 acres that I can think of with it since replacing the tines.

We use our JD 520 with a 5' Tiller. Primarily used in the garden and for working up top soil in the old feed lot.

Tiller requires new Tangs.........been trouble free for the past 25 years

With six forward gears Tiller does a fine Job.
