Hey guys. I'm still finagling around with a 1972 4020 that just decided to not start again. There's a post around here where I asked a lot of questions. We sorta narrowed it down to the starter solenoid. It's a piggyback type, on a Delco 12V starter.
The posts on the new solenoid are arranged horizontally, instead of vertically. That makes it nearly impossible to install with the copper(?) bracket that is used to connect what was the bottom terminal to the starter. It makes connecting the positive battery cable practically impossible too. The previous 2 solenoids I've had on it had the terminal arranged vertically.
Does anybody have any idea why they are like this now? I have ordered 2 of these. One from All States Ag, and another that I actually ordered from the John Deere dealer. (They had no clue.) I'm just wondering if I'm looking for a different part number or what.
