Replacing wheel studs

I'm restoring a JD-Lanz 510 and 2 wheel studs were broken off. I got the old ones out but can someone give me an idea how to get the new ones in barring taking the axle out and going to the press.

Cut a couple pieces of pipe and get them started by drawing them in with a nut,use a short one to start, then a longer one,,tap the back of the stud with a hammer as you draw it in..

Another idea is to slip washers over the bolt, tighten, add more washers as needed. A bit more sturdy than small pipe, and when done, just put them back in the bolt bin!

Yes a good idea also,, just be sure to have plenty of threads in the nut as you pull it on ..

Thanks to everyone. I tried drawing them in with the washer idea. I'm able to get the whole nut on against the washer. It became so hard to turn the nut after 1/8 inch or so I was worried about stripping the threads. I also thought before of the freezer thing and then heating the hub around the hole but wasn't sure if anyone had had luck with that. Maybe just the freezing is enough. If i used dry ice do you think the stud would get too brittle to put much torque on it?
