4230 open station

not sure on the number but most likely not rare. I have a 1977 4230 open station with quad range tranny now maybe a powershift maybe rare

We had one back in the 70's, I loved that tractor, I had a 4430 turbo set up on it and a bit more fuel to go with it,, we pulled a 6 row 7000 planter with it for years..It is gone now, and I think I know where she is at now,,been thinking about looking her up,,sorta like going to check on an old friend. We have a 4240 open station power shift here now, it don't get used much any more, it has a 4440 turbo set up on it and runs nice, and is a very "Pretty" tractor,,I don't think there were many 4240's, but I have seen a lot of 4230 open stations around here..

Of all the open station GenerationII tractors, the 4030 is probably the most common, followed by the 4230. As you get into the 40 and 50 series, it seems you see less and less, especially without ROPS. As the benefits of the Sound Gard cab came to be known, it became a hard option to pass up!

I have a powershift open station. Its probably the most used tractor other than the loader tractor. It has a 4430 turbo set up. Last year I did an over haul and a paint job.

There are several 4430 open stations around here and I know of 2 4630 open stations,,back when the sound guard cab first came out a lot of people still had a bad feeling about cabs...

I agree, I have seen the 4430s and a 4630 or two around here (dairy country) as well.

The worst issue with them is it seems in this neighborhood, many of those got a year-around cab or something similar, and the GEN II fenders are gone. Not common sheetmetal to find somewhere. I looked at one once that was a pretty nice horse (4430 PS with an aftermarket cab) andtoyed with the idea of the 4320 style fenders on it.

I found other things to do...

Tim, the trend I see here is the open station models seem to be more of the early 73-74 years the later ones, same in ohio?

Yes the latter ones are fewer,, seems that it took some time for some to except the cabs..
