pulling with a 70d

We are going to try to get some extra power from the 70d for pulling. Nothing crazy just to get an edge. I am sure that's a
slippery slope. But someone special has grown to enjoy winning with the tractor and that makes the tractor even more fun. So far
we have bumped fuel pressure set valves and comp release, also checked pump timing and cannot pull past rated hp on the dyno. We
have cleaned entire air system (still oil bath) and get light to med smoke when pulling. I have made contact with Albert at
Renaissance Tractor and looking at 13mm pumps along with pistons and injectors to match. It does run like a watch, maybe are focus
should be on weight distribution. I would sure like to hear any ideas anyone would like to share.

If it hasn't been updated to late 720-730 pistons do so and if possible get the high altitude pistons. Also update pump and injectors to later ones. Get yourself the late head it flows better if you want to keep the air cleaner change it to paper and do some work in the top casting to get it to flow better. My 70 will turn 18.4x38s in low and usually spins out in 8500 before it powers out. Made 63 hp on dyno {certified dyno at dealer}with almost no smoke haven't checked since giving it more fuel. Friend with sled says its at least 75hp closer to 80 by the way it pulls. Has a real healthy compression ignition knock scared me at first thought my flywheel had come loose right away.

High altitude diesel pistons?
Most 70 diesels have had the factory head crack and has been replaced with the 720 or 730 head with the larger intake valve.
1st gear is rather fast on the G and 70 tractors.
13mm pumps and the 830/840 6X12 thou injector tips will flow more than enough fuel.
A multi angle valve job, valve bowl blending and a re-ground cam will improve airflow.

I love those 70D, but it seems that it will take a lot of money to get beaten up anyway by the first MM stock GVI slightly turned up that showed up. :D :D

No high altitude pistons shown for any 2 cyl deere diesels.they did make them for many of the gas burners and some people assume that what was made for one model was made for all and that is just not true

Take the cover off so you can see the fuel rack. push throttle lever all the way forward. See where the rack stops against block? Now look at the pumps, notice that there is still teeth showing? Remove rack and shorten it so that when the throttle is opened it allows rack to move to very last tooth. Place spring against end of rack and block to close throttle. Your 70D will now pull a 15' disk in 4th gear on corn stalks.

There is a point where the amount of black smoke and heat increases but the HP does not increase.
