730 Diesel Sediment Bowl Pressure

When my 730 Diesel is running the fuel in the sediment bowl churns around almost like the return fuel is being pumped into the bowl instead of back into the tank. The tractor runs just fine at all speeds, but I'm thinking there is some slight pressure building up as the bowl keeps leaking slowly. I've tried replacing the whole assembly, so it's not the bowl itself that is bad. Wondered if anyone has ever run into this before or if you might have any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

ANY suggestions? OK, mine is always to carry a big ABC fire enxintguisher onboard. Google "Tractor Fire" if you doubt this.

Those tanks are vented with a line under the hood going down around the fan support area. Wonder if your vent is working ?

I think the "churning" you are seeing is the result of vibration from the engine.

And it leaks because of poor quality replacement parts from "The Land of Almost Right".

On the other hand, if there is any pressure, ever, when you remove the fuel cap, pull the hood and check out the steel vent line from the top of the tank to down by the waterpump area.

The cast fitting that goes up in the tank has a return fuel standpipe on it . They break off and cause the swirling you see . When the tractor is pulling, the return causes swirling and fuel wont flow into the fuel fitting causing flutter or misfire and that takes power away . Just re-braze it back in and you are good to go. Very common problem back when they were in the field .

I've had that fitting out of the tank, and the pipe is still on it. I wonder if it could be cracked down inside the fitting? Maybe I need to take the pipe nipple out of that fitting and look at the pipe to see if it is cracked. Thank you!

I forgot to mention , the original pipe was long enough to reach abt. the middle of the tank. Later ones were shorter . Also the fuel system constantly pumps fuel to cool and lube the pumps so some swirling is normal .
