rotary mower width for 2510

I've had a 2510 diesel syncro for almost a year now, good tractor so far. Used a 6' rotary mower last summer and am contemplating getting something wider to speed up the mowing. Would be interested in hearing what widths others have used with this tractor - - 8ft? 10ft? Not needed for thick brush, just normal 1-2 ft growth. Thanks.

I have used a 540 rpm 7 ft on our 2510 syncro diesel since it was new 50 years ago and it is all the mower it wants to handle in tough grass. I'll cut in 5th gear at around 1700 rpm in light stuff like pasture clipping and stalk cutting, but need more rpms if I hit a heavier spot like swamp grass, and need 3rd gear in the tough stuff I can only cut when it dries out during summer. A 6ft doesn't cut a full tractor width, but 7 ft does. Personally, I would not recommend a 10 ft for a 55 hp tractor doing utility farm maintenance.

i would not go with a 8'. My 2510 has the 219 diesel engine and 3rd gear wound tight is all it wants with the 8' Bush Hog mower. Lots of times if you don't clutch it quick enough to clean mower out you will kill it, actually I think I would stay with the 6'. Most of the time I hog with the 4010 and it can keep it working. I think that mower weighs in at 1500#.
