JD-70 Belt Pulley Snap Ring (F1389R)

Working on a JD-70 belt pulley. I need a new snap ring F1389R. John Deere cannot match the number nor the snap ring. Does anybody know of a cross reference for this snap ring? I don't think the snap ring that was in the belt pulley was correct. The groove in the pulley is wider than the snap ring that was once installed.

Thanks.

There are all kinds of snap rings out there, sounds like you are going to have to improvise. At least they are relatively cheap. I have made various repairs on all four of my 70's clutch, don't remember even seeing the snap ring you are dealing with. You might be able to get a complete belt pulley at a salvage yard and be time and money ahead.

If I remember correctly that snap ring is what the bearing butts up against. The belt pulley on my 70D had a snap ring in that spot. Jim

It is the snap ring the bushing butts up against on the back side of the pulley. We dug through the snap ring bin at John Deere today and they didn't have anything close. I will try a different tractor dealership and see what they have. I think anything close will work.
Thanks.

If you find a snap ring that fits but is narrow like the one you took out, try putting 2 in the groove.
