Synchro range shifting hard.

It seems I fiddled with it a while back and fixed any worn parts, what seems to make these hard and tend to get locked? There wasn't much obvious.

If all the linkage is not worn,is adjusted properly, and the clutch is not dragging, your problem lies in the synchronizers,and/or shift forks on the upper shaft of the transmission. Putting off a repair and continuing to run it will eventually lead to more damage, and loss of gear selection.

Ok, I assume this requires a split? I also am interested in load control shaft seals. It seems I did this 20 yrs ago or so and replaced the shaft at that time. Do you use oem or the after market bushings?

I am wishing I would have ordered parts for the steering motor while I am inspired, I think I might put that all back before heading to the next set of issues.
Its a long time between repairs and I forget a lot but it seems we fiddled and adjusted and I reman the linkages to shifter and they are tight like a nuns bun. It didn't work all that great after we worked on it as I recall, makes sense its internal. I have photo of the job in another thread, some of these are random.

Is it always hard or only after you run tractor for awhile? I had a 4010 years ago that shifted hard and it was because the clutch disc was wore down and sticking to the flywheel when the tractor was warm. Tom

My clutch was adjusted right as well, the disc was wore down past the grooves allowing it to stick to the flywheel. Does your tractor shift hard in all gears? A syncro usually just grinds when bad and does not go into gear. Tom
