1969 4020 HFWD Value

Im thinking about selling my 69' 4020 that has HFWD, has 2000 on engine rebuild, has syncro transmission that needs work does not shift into 3,5,7,8 gears. Has cab and very good tires. Its a very clean 2 owner tractor. Just feeling out what its worth with the transmission issue. Thanks

While the tractor has some collector value, being a hydraulic assist,that is pretty much wiped out by the bad transmission, which will cost $5-6000+ parts and labor to repair, depending on how bad the upper shaft and gears are. Add in any other repairs needed (cab kit,wiring, worn hoses, leaks) The higher dollar $18-$20,000+ HFWD tractors are usually late low houred'71 or '72 powershifts in good mechanical and cosmetic shape. That being said,I would put your '69 at around $7-7500 and it may take some time in today's market to get that.

Hard to sell something with known problems.Probably might as well fix it as it sounds like motor is good and HFWD adds value but you probably cant use it the way it is.The salvage value is about $45 per H.P.and front end complete would be around $4000.Hate to a number on repair.
